Design Validation & Verification
All Electronics Design work we perform is validated by simulation wherever possible, as this is a natural part of the design process. Components of the design will be simulated in a fashion appropriate. Analog systems are simulated in spice, and Digital systems may be simulated with an RTL model if appropriate. Embedded firmware may be simulated in the tools available for the platform.
Prototypes will be verified one subsystem at a time, and compared to simulation results and design specification. Hand modifications will be made at this stage to the physical prototype and the results fed back into the design data and simulations.

Validation is defined as:
The process of determining the degree to which a model is an accurate representation of the real world from the perspective of the intended uses of the model. (AIAA G-077-1998)
Verification is defined as:
The process of determining that a model implementation accurately represents the developer’s conceptual description of the model and the solution to the model. (AIAA G-077-1998)
